Several tables present statistical data, such as frequencies of features commonly associated with the empty sella syndrome. The fifth edition of this book offers expanded coverage of almost all of the medical problems that one might encounter in the office and hospital setting.

A chapter on AIDS is especially useful given that the disease can present in various ways and can alter the presentation of other diseases. Many of the questions that arise in morning report or during ward rounds can be quickly answered by using this book, and it is small enough to be carried in the pocket.

The dermatology section is limited and could be eliminated altogether or expanded to do justice to the subject.
