Hands down, for Ms.
Lisa Valdez has done it again! This story was short yet satisfying and it left me wanting more from this author. Valdez was able to keep it sexually sensual yet romantic at the same time. A must read for those who love historical erotica with a little twist of fantasy. Jul 17, Ross Phaye rated it really liked it. I love fairy tale retellings! And as such, I enjoyed reading this book. Warning, this review has spoilers! So this is about Rapunzel, adult version.
I love the innocence of Rapunzel and her self discovery about the "hunger" she was feeling. I kept thinking if it was related to the being the Golden Chalice or something?
I dunno. And I love that Prince Rodrigo fell in love with this innocence despite his jadedness. The twist about how the Golden Chalice will bring peace is something that I really l I love fairy tale retellings! The twist about how the Golden Chalice will bring peace is something that I really like. Nothing like a good ole family reunion of sorts. And I did not see it coming, at that. I mean when Rapunzel said she was being taken cared of by a golden haired woman when she was younger, I did figure out this was her mom.
But I never thought that this was a runaway princess of the rival kingdom.

And of course with Rapunzel ending up with Prince Rodrigo, well that ends the war since now the kingdoms are united. I find this to be an easy read, I finished it in one sitting.
The sex parts are not overpowering. There are only a few of these, so I was able to focus on the story more instead of just the hot bed scenes. Jul 24, Brenda Heffler rated it it was amazing. Loved it!! Nov 28, E.
D26 rated it liked it. But halfway through Lisa managed to deliver a good story not as good as her other work and I ended up really enjoying the story.
Nice twist on a fairytale. Enjoyed it alot. I always like it when an author includes an epilogue. It's Okay Not as good as her novels and Rapunzel is a little slow, but I have seen worse. It's worth a read if you're bored. Sep 22, Tressa rated it liked it Shelves: The Tower is an erotic and interesting update to the Rapunzel fairy tale.
Sep 29, Michelle rated it really liked it Shelves: This retelling of Rapunzel with an erotic spin is definitely bedtime story worthy. Jan 14, Tin rated it really liked it Shelves: I've read the original version and was impressed by the author's faithful retelling of the tale but, at the same time, I liked how she filled in the gaps in the original story. The best part was the idea of the quest, which Rodrigo was on, searching for The Golden Chalice -- a mythical item that was said to end the wars.
His search leads him to Rapunzel's tower and he believes that the chalice is found in The Tower is Lisa Valdez's erotic version of the Rapunzel fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm. His search leads him to Rapunzel's tower and he believes that the chalice is found in the tower.
What he finds instead is Rapunzel. The lust and the sex seem to happen quite suddenly in Valdez's version but, then again, it's just as fast in Grimm's -- though Grimm's version is not as graphic and explicit as Valdez's. And this, I think, is the value of this e-novella: Lisa Valdez writes erotic historical romance and she writes the erotic part well. I especially like Lisa's control on this novella: Yes, it's lust but it's also something more: Long, long before the romance world had a taste of E.
James's Fifty Shades of Grey , Lisa Valdez was already writing an edgier kind of romance story with her debut novel, Passion It took her 5 years before Patience's story which I didn't like as much was released and we are still waiting for Primrose's story -- but, in the interim, she has published The Tower. It's short and incredibly steamy -- but I think fans of Lisa Valdez will come away quite satisfied yes, pun intended with this latest offering.
My one small complaint is that when the writing gets hot, it also loses a bit of its "historical-ness" and becomes a bit too modern. Also a bit weird when I read this part: Can you say HOT!!!
Rapunzel, An Erotic Bedtime Story by Lisa Valdez a liveblog/review.
Ms Valdez knows her erotica and she tells some very HOT stories! I think I will like the Erotic Bedtime Stories very much! This is one of my favorite stories when I was a kid and to see it transformed to an adult version was very interesting. Of course Ms Valdez put her own spin on this fairytale and it is not the same tale as the children's story.

The prince comes to Rapunzel's tower in the beginning of the book. In this story we are told of the time the Prince spends with Rapunzel and how they fall in love. If only they can find a way to be together without the Witch ruining everything.
Just off the charts. Check out the rest of the review and a liveblog! Jul 24, PChie rated it liked it. This is so funny in a different way! It was never good to keep her mother waiting for it made her angry and suspicious, but Rapunzel didn't want her to know about the hunger.
Her mother was very protective of her, and while Rapunzel told her practically everything, this…well, this she'd felt compelled to keep entirely to herself. Releasing the thick coils of braid that were held at her waist in long loops, she secured a portion to the great brass hook on the sill. Then she released the yards of braid so that her mother could climb up.
As she waited, she drew deep breaths and tested the temperature of her brow and cheeks with the back of her hand. She still ached between her legs and her thighs were wet, but she must not show her distress. Only it wasn't her mother's heavy, black-clad leg that swung over the sill. It was a muscular leg in cross-garters and green hose. And it wasn't her mother's gnarled hand that followed. It was a smooth, long-fingered hand.
Her blue eyes were wide with both shock and fear. Her lips trembled. And as he stared at her, she drew a small dagger from the sheath at her belt.
It was a belt of golden hair, braided over her shoulder and slung low about her hips. From there, it swagged to a hook by the window; and from the hook fell the rope-like length that still hung in his grip. Prince Rodrigo stood for a moment more on the wide sill, surveying the spacious, high-vaulted chamber whilst he slowly looped up the rope of her hair that he'd climbed.
He didn't see the Golden Chalice, but he'd expected it to be hidden. The tower-room was well enough appointed. Some old tapestries hung on the walls, furs lay on the floor before a giant hearth, and there was furniture to sit, eat and sleep upon. His cock pulsed with anticipation.
After weeks of watching, it was just as he'd suspected: And she was, oh, so lovely. Her pale yellow gown fit her torso like a glove.
Long sleeves came to points over her hands, a wide neckline scooped low, and a fitted bodice hugged full breasts, a narrow waist and slim hips before falling into a skirt of deep folds that puddled behind her. And then there was her glorious golden hair. For though her purpose was surely to lure him from his quest, the hag could not have known that the one who would breech the tower would be immune to the wiles of a beautiful, distressed maiden-immune to the distractions of love.
He almost scoffed aloud. He was not the romantic quest knight of lore. And after three years of scouring the nine kingdoms and tracking down every obscure clue to this tower, he would not be deterred from his quest in the final days-not by anything or anyone-least of all by a beautiful, flush-faced bit of cunt. He watched the lovely quiver of her moist lower lip and felt a familiar, answering quiver in his sac.
Yes, he would fuck her as he pleased, find the Chalice, and then be on his way. For war was looming and time was of the essence.
He leapt down from the sill and she leapt back, raising her dagger higher. He might have smiled when she startled herself by bumping into the large loom that was behind her, but he didn't appreciate being drawn upon even if the blade was small. So, ignoring her, he moved to the hook and took his time unwinding the twists of braid. Once free, he looped the coils with the rest, slid them onto his arm, and then leaned back on the wide sill.
Beneath his tunic, he felt his cock swelling and thrusting out from the opening of his braies as he studied her. She was pressed against the loom and only a little more than a couple sword-lengths separated them. But she looked nervously at the remaining portion of her braid that stretched between them. Lifting her eyes back to his, she looked horrified and shook her head.
He could tell she believed it. Where would you go that I could not catch you?
Still holding up the dagger, she gasped and tried to pull back. Pushing away from the sill, he stood, displaying his own weapon. Free of the confines of his undergarment and at full stand, it tented his tunic beneath his belt to an extreme degree, dwarfing her steel. She stared at it and, for just a moment, something flickered in her eyes that was not fear. No, more than interest-fascination. But then she blinked and the fear returned, accompanied now by a healthy dose of confusion.
Rodrigo sighed. Clearly, he was going to have to play out the whole gallant-knight-seduced-by-innocent-maiden farce. He examined the tankards and cups that decorated the heavy mantel before turning back to her. She still held the damned dagger, and her other hand was pulling back on the length of braid that separated them. But, apparently, his coat of arms meant nothing to her. Her eyes had widened and it seemed all the blood drained from her face.
Then she turned into a wild thing, twisting, turning and pulling frantically upon her braid. Holding it firmly, Rodrigo regarded her with surprise. Though he had a reputation for conquest, both on the battlefield and in the bedchamber, most ladies were eager to open their legs for him-eager to have their turn at breaking the curse he'd been born under, to never father a child.
I thought it was necessary to up the rating for this particular case lol. Trapped in a tower by a witch who claims to be her mother, Rapunzel has led a lonely life. Now, grown into a young woman, she is plagued by desires she has no idea how to fulfill. But everything changes when a handsome prince climbs through her tower window and feeds the hunger she had thought insatiable.
On a quest for a Golden Chalice, Prince Rodrigo is convinced Rapunzel is there to distract him from finding the Chalice. He thinks to use her for his pleasure, take what he has come for, and be on his way. But when Rapunzel proves to be more than an erotic diversion, Rodrigo must face the realities of her captivity by a witch who is definitely not her mother. She usually writes very sensually and all of the more intimate scenes have some purpose towards the plot.
So is this like an adult version of Tangled? Minus the singing, Zachary Levi and Maximus? And sorry if I forever ruined Tangled for you. Okay hello prologue filled with innuendo. That sounds painful. This liveblogging business might be more difficult than I was expecting. Prince Rodrigo is looking for the Golden Chalice to help save his kingdom. Only you know, instead of a charming thief, we have a very alpha Prince Rodrigo who is very attracted to this Rapunzel and has a raging boner.
Valdez, Lisa Kindle Edition. Well, true to its subtitle as to being an erotic bedtime story, it was very erotic. I kind of got bored halfway through all the sex though since it was kind of repetitive.
All of the described sex scenes were all hard and rough. I just wished there was variety. Her heart clenched in her breast. Knowledge, experience, life— love! This… …with you. I think this is what I love the best about Liza Valdez though. That, I think, in the heyday of many books talking about people wanting sex without the strings, is refreshing.
