The Pleasures of Passion
Part two opens with Juliana becoming betrothed to Lord Devon and Rhys appearing at the party to contest the betrothal and claim his wife. He refuses to let her go and demands that she leave with him.
What follows is two people relearning each other. Rhys believes that Juliana betrayed him and will not listen to her side of the story - he is firm in his belief and will not be swayed. Juliana is desperate to reconcile, but knows that unless they confront the past and have faith and trust in each other, that they will never be truly happy.
I loved watching these two interact and fall in love again. Rhys was stubborn and at times cruel to Juliana, but he did love her and when he finally accepted the truth and believed in her - I was in tears. I seriously wanted to smack the man several times throughout the book - he was such a jerk - but he totally redeemed himself and while he didn't grovel nearly as much as he should have IMO he did ask for her forgiveness and laid his heart in her hands - SIGH!!!

I would definitely recommend this book and look forward to more in this series. The main plot and the subplots were all very well-developed and the story moved along briskly. I loved the strength of the heroine and everything she had to deal with before and after her marriage. Well done! Very good read. It doesn't matter what name Jeffries writes under, I would buy them all. Haven't read any that I didn't like immensely.

If you've never read a book by Sabrina Jeffries you are truly missing out on some really great historical romance. She pulls you in to every story and you don't want it to end. When chubby, bespectacled Elinor Bancroft finds herself stranded during the Christmas season with an aunt and three young cousins, due to a carriage accident, they have no choice but to accept the hospitality offered by Martin Thorncliff, the man known as The Black Baron.
Gruff and determined to not celebrate Christmas, Thorncliff very shortly finds his wishes overturned by the enthusiasm of Elinor and the three youngsters along with the cooperation of his staff. Feeling rejected by society due to circumstances beyond his control, he has avoided genteel society for three years. Unaware of his reputation and the reasons behind it, Elinor at first sees him as a grump, yet acknowledges she is attracted to him.
She's weary with the Marriage Mart and gents who are interested only in her wealth, and is therefore determined to find a way to persuade her father to allow her to stay at her country home and just be a spinster. Better that than marry a man who wants her for the wrong reason. Elinor doesn't count on the mad attraction the Baron has to her - not for her wealth, but for Elinor. He loves the way she looks, considers her "plumpness" to be very sexual and he's starved for love and affection. So, the questions are: Is Thorncliff just starved for any woman?
Is he only interested in Elinor because he's been without society and women in general? It doesn't appear to be her money.
Further, why does he have a barn that insists his guests stay away from?
Eventually we learn he has secrets which must be revealed in order for his soul to be healed. Elinor is exactly what he needs and it is Christmas - a great time for healing and miracles! Lovely story with passion aplenty and a very sexy Black Baron.
