Green is definitely not in Fielding's or even Maxted's league. Her writing lacks alacrity and wit.
The whole plot was entirely too maudlin an exercise, and her characters were much too predictable. I am interested in the romance genre because an author is expected to innovate within certain conventions and do something new within a tried-and-true framework, but there is no attempt to do so here. Green doesn't push herself either in humor or in style.

It was only readable because I was on a plane and had no other choice. Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. The story was fine. More or less predictable. It needed better editing. Some if it was little dumb things, but showed a lack if attention. For example getting the time change from the States to England wrong. The story drug a bit as well. All the character change was really just summed up in the last couple if pages rather than seeing real character development. I was disappointed in this book.
Firstly, there were so many characters introduced and I found that I only really cared about Holly.
So much time was spent on the other characters and they really weren't all that interesting. Secondly, the HEA happily ever after at the end for Holly was really lacking. It seemed like the author just got tired of writing the book at the end and wanted to wrap it up with a relationship that was explained in just a couple paragraphs.
The whole reunion scene at the end was not exciting to me either. Thirdly, what happened to Will? Who knows? I was totally falling for Will, too.
I suppose the book was interesting enough for me to read the entire thing, but it was rather depressing. It really could have been better if the ending wasn't so dreadful. Good story, good characters and a plot I could relate to. Only problem was the ending felt rushed - like hurry up and tie it all together to meet deadline. Too many books are ending that way recently. I liked it very much. It lacked a little bit of depth, especially when it came to Marcus.
We never understood who he really was. I would rather have liked to pick his brain. Other than that, I liked it. I think it was a true evaluation of alot of relationships, especially today.
