Gent is a little wild, a little jaded maybe. He likes to play. Whether it's a good game of pool, a piercing in a naughty place, or a pretty boy who wants to take him home, he's all for it. He likes to take chances, as long as they're not the stupid kind. When he meets Paul, he thinks he might just have found someone fresh and new, someone who'll play, maybe someone who will be more than a one night stand.

Still, I'm not really picturing this guy going in for body mods. And I can't help it, I grin and bring my hand up to my chest and press my shirt tight, showing my own off. Then my mouth keeps talking. Feels real cool. So what do I do? I lift my shirt for the pretty boy. Not sure where my brain is at this point. I've got rings in both nipples and this fine gold chain linking them. He's staring at my chest and I can feel myself start to get hard, 'cause, well, I'm me.

Then he reaches a hand out to me, and pulls it back. Shy always gets to me--I think it's a personality flaw. He reaches out to me again and fingers the chain lightly, then steps a little closer and tugs on it. He's holding my eyes and he's working the chain like he knows exactly what it's doing to me, sending bolts of fucking fire to my cock, and then he says, real quiet, "Like that, do you? I nod and try to grin, but he's looking me up and down, real slow and his eyes are hot and I can see he's getting hard in his jeans.

Bobby sticks his head out the door and calls him, so he lets go of my chain and smiles at me. Says, "Yeah, maybe I'll do both. I go to the desk and hunt up his release form. His name is Paul and I was right, he's my age. We share a birthday. View 1 comment. Jan 06, Rejane rated it did not like it. I remember: One alive and the other dead.

I'm usually pretty good at that. But this one. Big Bus Surprise. Allison is working at a diner while saving money to finish her Masters.

Her mom has passed away and she is basically alone. She has friends but no family. She is living her life. Then one day HE walks into the diner. And he is beautiful. And a good tipper. But seeing as how he's not a regular and she doesn't even know his name, its not like it can go anywhere, right?

Every day in life, people we will likely never encounter a second time, pass us by. For some unknown reason, I just couldn't accept that he was one of them.

Cedric is a successful talent agent. He has worked his way through lot of women but not given his heart to anyone since The Chicago Incident. But can he win her trust. More importantly Cedric is sweet, romantic, sexy and has a tattoo. Another secret. The tattoo. That's the thing about lies; you have to keep covering them with more lies. There are great secondary characters. You really get to know the characters and love them. As the story unfolds, you get the many layers of the Allison and Cedric.

Trust me once the cat is out of the bag you will be all Well played Ms.

I loved every page from beginning to end. This book kept me completely interested all the way through. I know that the thought of Insta-love turns a lot of people off but I would have to say that this book handled it differently. Yes Cedric and Allison felt an instant connection but they slowly grew their relationship I will say that you know right off the bat that Cedric has a secret he is keeping and it drove me crazy not knowing, but that was also the amazing part of this book, it kept you invested to keep reading to find out what he was hiding.

I have to say I never would've guessed his secret. I tried to figure it out before the reveal in the book and I couldn't come up with anything that worked.

And now I know why ; I loved the secondary characters in this book. I also loved that this book touched on the subject of Autism in children and adults. It was fabulous to see how Allison worked with these adults and helped them through their daily life. Although I will never think of Wonder Woman the same way again. You'll have to read the book to know what I am talking about.

I would definitely recommend this book. It is one I will for sure read again in the future.

No lie - I almost gave up on this book in the first chapter after she name checks Christian Gray - yeah, I'm a snob, I don't want to read about a woman who thought that book was "delicious".

But I got over myself. And now I'll go into something else that What happens when you finish your book on the way in to the office and face a dreary bus ride home later? And now I'll go into something else that bugs me in contemporary setting books - constant brand name dropping. A character can't just "grab a beer", no, they have to "grab a LandShark beer" - every single time I read stuff like that it pops me right out of the story - and it's like that scene in Wayne's World.

I don't know if authors' think that makes the story more authentic or something, but I find it distracting - and also means the book is going to sound completely dated in about five years. Also, it's Berklee College of Music. Contrary to what Alanis Morisette would like you to believe, irony does not mean coincidence - stop using it that way. There is something seriously hinkey about Allisons' therapist jobs view spoiler [Admittedly, I know nothing about autism treatment so maybe this is legitimate, but dressing up in a skimpy Wonder Woman costume when working with a 20 year-old autistic male?

Even if it's because supposedly it's the only way he'll interact with a therapist. Is that not just borderline creepy? And can Allison really carry a 20 year-old young woman around on her shoulders like it's nothing? Sex scene: I weep that this is what passes for "erotica" these days. Gag her with your tongue! Sexy sexy - view spoiler [especially five minutes after she's almost been sexually assaulted.

Is Allison 29 or 12? That's another problem I'm having - both of these people are in their 30s, or close to, yet almost everything that comes out of their mouths or minds is so juvenile. I've been reading about this big mind blowing twist. Is it view spoiler [that Cedric's first true love was Allison's unknown identical twin sister that he banged, and who died after he was a douchebag hide spoiler ] because if so, that's not mind blowing - that's fucking creeptastic.

I am really wishing I went with my gut and quit this at the Christian Gray reference. I'm just skimming now First person POV has never been my favorite, especially like this. Bouncing back and forth between the characters, where the beginning of each segment is a recap of what happened in the last from the other POV is tedious.

Annnnd that was the twist with an added subtwist. Much like other heroes of this genre who shall remain nameless but you know who I mean - I just do NOT get the appeal of Cedric.

He's hot! He's rich! He's a total douchebag - he's a 34 year-old frat guy. I thought the bit with Rose Kim - where he actually entertains - even for a second - letting her go down on him despite the fact that he knows she's doing it to get a job she is grossly unqualified for, and while he is supposedly "so in love" with Allison - was the worst.

And then I read this: I'm sure Stephanie, who you've been dating for two months, appreciates that - but I mean you haven't actually had sex with her yet, so that makes it A-OK. Of course Allison goes along so she's no prize either - they deserve each other. Well, this is the state of post- 50 Shades erotic fiction, I guess. It's no surprise that the author lists E.

James among her inspirations and apparently, a lot of people love this book based on the number of five star reviews and the fact that there is already one sequel and another in the works.

It's a shame, really - I like that e-books have caused a kind of renaissance for erotic fiction but where is the quality? Or is this part of the dreadful "new adult" genre that is basically warping an entire generation of young women into thinking these assholes are romantic and dreamy? I'm getting too old for this shit Jun 02, Jen O'grady rated it really liked it. What an endearing bittersweet story, loved the twist plots but the romance shown through.

I love feeling a connection with book characters and loved Allison and Cedric so much. Will be looking out for more from Penelope Ward.

Is there such a thing as love at first site? Or are things fated to end badly? When Wonder Woman and Kent Clark get together they can't keep their hands to themselves. But when someone threatens to expose him, their lives are spun from lust to betrayal. How could this possibly be true? When shock takes a hold, you are paralyzed within yourself. And everyone's heart breaks.

You're emotionally drained and shut down. Once your new reality is realized, it's time to deal with it or move on. But in the end, tears can also bring great joy. I read this after Jake Undone , but wish I read it first. While not a big deal, I do have a greater appreciation for the characters and their relationships after reading this.

Nov 13, Athena rated it it was amazing. Wow, what a story I read "Jake Undone" by this author first and when I fell in love with that unique story, I knew I just had to read Gemini.

Boy am I glad that I did! This book was amazing! Let me start off by showing you who I see as the cast for Allison and Cedric Allison Abrahams dream was to get her graduate degree in special education so she could work with kids with special needs and make a difference. Now because of some life circumstances and the high cost of school, Allison is working a Wow, what a story I read "Jake Undone" by this author first and when I fell in love with that unique story, I knew I just had to read Gemini.

Now because of some life circumstances and the high cost of school, Allison is working at a diner waitressing and saving money until she is ready to return to school. While on her shift the most gorgeous man with the most amazing blue eyes walks in. She can't seem to take her eyes off of him and he can't seem to take his eyes off of her! For some unknown reason, I just couldn't accept that he was one of them Allison But was their encounter coincidental or was it by chance?

Cedric Callahan was not at Allison's diner by chance, he was there to find her, but once he took one look at her he was instantly attracted to her and decided not to tell her the truth of why he was there. Instead he decided he would follow his heart to be with her and tell her later why he was really at the diner and hope that once she got to know him she would be able to forgive him for not telling her the truth.

I kept thinking I knew Cedric's secret, but with every passing chapter I started to second guess my prediction and then when his secret came out I was like whoa! This book kept me captivated and at the edge of my seat trying to figure out what Cedric was hiding. I laughed, cried and just fell in love with the way this story unfolded. Your heart will break and then it will be put back together piece by piece once you get to the end.

Looking forward to reading more from Penelope Ward! Aug 07, Syndi rated it did not like it. This book is bad 1. It should be editing better.

We do not need chapters about Cedric client and the nature of his job. It creates more confusion since none of Cedric's clients has major contribution on the plot. There is no chemistry between Cedric and Allison.

No character development. I read this on audio book. The audio book is more than 10 hours. The writing is unpolished. She'd sit on the couch and read or watch television. Sometimes, when she'd watch TV, she'd laugh out loud to herself. Staring at the lingering smile that followed was the best form of meditation for me.

When Skylar smiled, she lit up the room, and there was nothing more calming to look at. It was important for me to see her smile. It meant I hadn't wiped it away altogether. On the other hand, she seemed tense when he was around. Those nights, she spent more time cleaning or cooking, never relaxing. They'd argue a lot and one time, it culminated in his grabbing her and kissing her apologetically. As much as I had tried to prepare myself for what I might have to witness when I decided to do this, that really stung like hell to watch.

Thank God it ended there. I wouldn't have stuck around for anything more. That's for damn sure. Show over at that point. She was reading tonight. With my binoculars, I studied her pensive expression as she concentrated on her book with her legs wrapped in a knit blanket. She had lit a couple of jar candles on the coffee table, and there was one lamp on.

She was so friggin' cute in her red-framed reading glasses. I wondered when she started needing glasses and then stopped that thought process because it led me to wonder about all the other things I had missed. I would have given anything to hold her while she read and to fall asleep with my nose in the crook of her neck. Just the thought of that warmed me inside as I sat in my dark, cold car. I couldn't figure out why some nights he never came home. I would sure as hell be home every night if Skylar were mine.

A howling wind shook my car as I continued to gaze at her through the window. Her eyelids became heavy, and I watched intently as they slowly closed tight.

She had fallen asleep on the couch. I could see my breath as I sighed and leaned my head back against the seat, conceding that it was time to call it quits for the night. My heart hurt every time I had to leave her. But I would keep coming until I had what I needed: Until next week, my Skylar. I put the key in the ignition and turned it to start the car when the engine hesitated. Thinking nothing of it, I immediately turned it a second time when the same thing happened.

Not here of all places. That's what I got for bringing the shit car. I owned a really nice truck, but it was massive and would have attracted too much attention on the quiet street. This car was an older Corvette I purchased for fun, working on it occasionally, but it mainly stayed in my mother's garage. After a third attempt to start the car, I got a flashlight and kit out of my trunk and opened the hood. The battery wasn't dead, so I tinkered with some wiring in the hopes that I could get it to start.

When I cranked it again, it still wouldn't budge. I repeatedly turned the ignition, pumping my foot on the gas, praying that I could get out of here before Skylar woke up and noticed me.

I took a break, slamming my head against the steering wheel in frustration. After about five minutes, I decided to try it one last time before I would abandon my car and walk the several miles home in the freezing cold. This time, I pumped harder on the gas as I turned the ignition, and to my absolute horror, the car backfired in a loud bang.

I needed to grab my shit and just go. I exited the car, and as I turned to lock it, there was the sound of a door bursting open and footsteps scraping the pavement behind me.

My back was toward her. I had a hood on, so she couldn't see my face to identify me. I was almost mad at her for coming out because for all she knew, I could have been a serial killer. But Skylar always had balls too big for her own good. I had two options: But how would I explain this? It felt like my heart was in my mouth when I turned around and removed my hood.

Gram thought it would be a good idea for me to get out of the house because I had done nothing but play video games since I arrived yesterday. I was staying with my grandmother for the summer because my parents were fighting all of the time, and my mother didn't want me around to witness it anymore. The excuse she gave me was that my grandmother had been lonely and asked for me to live with her, but I knew better.

Things back home were really bad. Some nights, Dad didn't come home, and I was scared that there would be nothing left to go back to. Maybe meeting some new kids will brighten your mood. But I just don't want to be here all summer. I want to go home in a couple of weeks. But your folks,,,they have some things to sort out.

Besides, I have been waiting all year to spend quality time with my most handsome grandson. Gram pulled into the playground parking lot. I'll be sitting right here in the car knitting if you need me. So, while the other kids chased each other around, played ball or climbed the rock wall, I walked across the park and planted myself on the bench farthest away from the action.

I had snuck my portable video game player into my shirt before we left the house, so I took it out, trying to drown out the screams and whistles of the other kids. I felt a whack on my arm. You're it! A scrawny girl with two long braids was running away from me, egging me on to chase her. She looked back with a silly smile that soon faded when she realized I still hadn't moved from my spot to play along. She walked back to where I continued playing the video game. You're supposed to chase me.

I lifted my foot. She tilted her head.
